i am working for an online marketing firm as their in house SEO manager. I am currently working on and redeveloping the SEO packages that we offer. While accomplishing this undertaking, i had a passing thought of just what a better search engine would be. a web 3.0 search engine if you will, not that i presume to re-invent the entire internet with just a random thought, but it is an idea worth mulling over i feel.
currently the way the internet works is as follows:
- person is looking for something and goes to their favourite search engine to do a search on their topic of interest.
- the search engine displays the results in order it has deemed most important to least.
- the person then clicks on the first 2 or 3 pages of results until concluding their search for whatever they were looking for.
the problem with this approach is:
- people are inherently lazy and will only feed into the first results.
- search engines can be fooled into sending you to a false information site
how about a search engine that randomizes its high ranking positions with every search, rather than giving the same tired results for every search. i know that this would disrupt if not even collapse the entire SEO business as you could never be #1 on google guaranteed.
